修鞋匠行醫(yī)寓言故事
一個(gè)手藝不怎么樣的鞋匠發(fā)現(xiàn)自己無(wú)法靠修鞋來(lái)維持生計(jì)，便放棄了補(bǔ)鞋的活，改行做起了醫(yī)生。他對(duì)外宣稱自己有一個(gè)可祛百毒的解藥秘方，因?yàn)槌錾拇蹬１绢I(lǐng)，他騙取了人們的信任，贏得了好各聲。然而，有一天，他自己得了重病。國(guó)王想借此試驗(yàn)一下他的藥效，因此便叫人拿來(lái)一個(gè)杯子，倒了一點(diǎn)他的解藥，然后加了些水，謊稱這是毒藥，隨后又命令他喝下去。補(bǔ)鞋匠擔(dān)心會(huì)中毒，便承認(rèn)自己并不懂什么醫(yī)藥知識(shí)，而那個(gè)解藥也一無(wú)是處。國(guó)王便召集起所有臣民，對(duì)他們說(shuō)：“你們簡(jiǎn)直都愚笨至極，這就是那個(gè)沒(méi)人愿意讓他給補(bǔ)靴子的修鞋匠，而你們竟然毫不猶豫地將自己的性命托付給他！”

THE COBBLER TURNED DOCTOR
A very unskilful Cobbler,finding himself unable to make a living at his trade，gave up mending boots and took to doctoring instead.He gave out that he had the secret of a universal antidote against all poisons，and acquired no small reputation，thanks to his talent for puffing himself One day,howevever.he fell very ill；and the King of the country bethought him that he would test the value of his remedy.Calling，therefore，for a cup，he poured out a dose of the antidote，and，under pretence of mixing poison with it，added a little water，and commanded him to drink it.Terrified by the fear of being poisoned，the Cobbler confessed that he knew nothing about medicine，and that his antidote was worthless.Then the King summoned his subjects and addressed them as follows：“What folly could be greater than yours?Here is this Cobbler to whom no one will send his boots to be mended，and yet you have not hesitated to entrust him with your lives!”
